Lallemand Animal Nutrition is now authorized to market Bactocell^® (lactic acid bacteria strain Pediococcus acidilactici CNCM MA18/5M), in Canada for use in swine and chicken feeds.

This new authorization of Bactocell by Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) includes the following production claims:

• To improve growth rate and feed efficiency in swine
• To improve weight gain and feed efficiency in broiler chickens
• To improve egg production in layer hens

Bactocell strengthens the digestive microflora and inhibiting the action and effect of undesirable microbial flora (competitive exclusion). Lactic acid is produced decreasing pH and inhibiting undesirable bacteria.[/llang_en]

Lallemand Animal Nutrition, North America is now distributing a full line of DFMs and probiotics for beef producers – from start to finish.

In addition to its successful Micro-Cell DFM product line, two live yeast products are now available : Levucell^©SC and Proternative SF *.

Levucell^©SC is the only live yeast with proven rumen health benefits and an FDA review of efficacy on digestibility. It is designed to be fed to cattle on high fiber diets.
Proternative SF was formulated to improve the health of the lower GI tract resulting in better overall health and performance. It is fed during times of stress, i.e. creep feeding, weaning, shipping, and extreme weather.

The Micro-Cell product line includes three formulas as well as the innovative Phase Feeding Program: Micro-Cell LA for Pathogen Control; Micro-Cell PB for Lactate Utilization; and Micro-Cell Gold for Pathogen Control and ByProduct Digestibility. Phase Feeding indicates Micro-Cell LA be fed during the step-up phase followed by Micro-Cell PB for finishing. Feeding the right bacteria at the right time results in improved efficiency.

Lallemand Animal Nutrition presented an innovative study on piglet maturity during this week’s Porcine Research Days in Paris (Journées de la Recherche Porcine 2010). This study defined a set of criteria to assess piglet maturity at birth. This new tool can help farmers evaluate future performance of newborn piglets and assist in reducing their related costs thanks to a more fluid litter management.
