Lallemand and Canadian NRC (National Research Council Canada) teamed up to develop a Certified Reference Material (CRM) for Selenium enriched yeast, the form of selenium recognized for i ts bioavailability.

Lallemand announced that Alkosel®(a source of organic selenium based on a specific yeast strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae – NCYC R397 – ) has received a favorable opinion for use in all animal species from the European Food Safety Authority’s (EFSA) Scientific Panel on Additives and Products or Substances used in Animal Feed.
