Biotal® Forage Inoculants combine proprietary strains of lactic acid bacteria with enzymes for fast efficient ensiling and aerobic stability. BuchneriTM 500 contains Lactobacillus buchneri 40788 which is FDA Reviewed “for improved aerobic stability of silage and high moisture corn stored for not less than 60 days.” Buchneri 500 is approved by the CFIA for:
Improves aerobic stability of ensiled high moisture shelled corn
Biotal BuchneriTM 40788 is approved by the CFIA for:
Improves aerobic stability
Increases milk production
Increases weight gain and feed conversion
Biotal Plus is approved by the CFIA for:
Increases fat corrected milk yield in dairy cattle fed corn silage at 75-85% moisture
Increases average daily gain in steers fed high moisture corn at 25-35% moisture
Increases average daily gain in suckling calves when cows are fed grass/legume silage at 55-65% moisture
BuchneriTM 500 (OU) and Biotal® Plus (OU) are approved by GarantieBio Ecocert for organic production.
Silage is the largest part of the daily intake of most ruminants so its quality plays an important part in animal performance. Heating results in energy losses, reduced palatability and intakes. Energy losses are due to the consumption of sugars and lactic acid by yeasts. This causes the pH to rise, creating ideal conditions for mould development, causing greater energy and DM losses. Moreover, some moulds produce mycotoxins with potential negative consequences on animal health and performance. Biotal Forage Inoculants are a management tool to help producers prevent heating and spoilage in their silages and also to minimize risks from mould growth.
