Forage

Forage

Silages are different

  • Silage could the largest portion of the daily intake of most ruminants.
  • To optimize palatability, feeding value and safety, silage should be as fresh as possible.
  • The basis of a well-preserved silage lies in a quick and profound  acidification.
  • All forages are not the same: some have higher or lower  sugar and protein content, thus more or less difficult to acidify. Some forages are also prone to aerobic spoilage (ex : high DM and high sugar content forages).
  • The feeding value and water soluble carbohydrate content of silages can be improved by the use of specifically selected enzymes and or micro-organisms.

Problems occurring during ensiling will have a negative impact on the economical value of the harvest.

Some products are manufactured with High Concentrate technology which guarantee a very high inoculant rate (CFU/g of forage) with 1g/t and high solubility.
