Fernanda Rosa receives 2026 Lallemand Dairy Science Award

The American Dairy Science Association® (ADSA®) and Lallemand are pleased to announce Fernanda Rosa, PhD, as the 2026 recipient of the Lallemand Award for Scientific Excellence in Dairy Nutrition. The award will be presented on June 23, 2026, during the awards ceremony at the ADSA Annual Meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States.

The Lallemand Award for Scientific Excellence in Dairy Nutrition recognizes early-career scientists who demonstrate outstanding achievement in dairy nutrition research, teaching, extension, or industry application within the first 10 years of their professional career.

Advancing calf health through research

Rosa is an assistant professor of immunology at the Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine. Her research focuses on improving preweaned calf health through targeted nutritional strategies, with a particular emphasis on bioactive compounds and bovine colostrum, inflammatory response and exploring the relationship between diet and the host-microbiota using in vitro approaches and animal models.

Originally from Brazil, Rosa completed her bachelor’s degree in animal science at the Federal University of Pelotas. She earned her master’s degree in animal science from Oregon State University, and completed her doctorate in biological sciences, with a specialization in dairy science, at South Dakota State University. Her doctorate focused on nutritional interventions to enhance calf immunity and health outcomes.

Recognizing innovation in dairy science

Through her research, Rosa contributes to advancing dairy calf health, immune function and nutritional strategies, supporting improved performance and welfare.

ADSA and Lallemand Animal Nutrition are pleased to recognize Rosa’s contributions to applied dairy nutrition and scientific innovation with the 2026 Lallemand Award for Scientific Excellence in Dairy Nutrition award.
