Inside the role of a regional business manager: Kevin McAnenly

Kevin McAnenly, Regional Business Manager for Northern Ireland at Lallemand Animal Nutrition.

Meet Kevin McAnenly, our regional business manager for Northern Ireland at Lallemand Animal Nutrition. With five years of dedicated service, Kevin has become an integral part of the team.

Passion and expertise

Kevin’s areas of interest and expertise include feed ingredients and Environmental Products. “Having worked in the animal health industry for over 25 years and on the elimination of antibiotics from animal treatment, I was witnessing a change and the importance of nutrition in an animal’s diet. Lallemand is a market leader in this field of animal nutrition,” he explains.

A defining moment

A pivotal moment in Kevin’s career was when he began liaising with feed mills. “Once I began to liaise with feed mills and recognised the respect they had towards Lallemand’s products,” he knew he was on the right path.

Remote work and daily routine

Based remotely, Kevin’s typical workday starts with early emails before hitting the road. “I try to plan my day visiting several customers in a geographical area. These can be feed mills, poultry units, dairy farms, and piggeries.” His goal is to provide solutions to producers and farmers facing challenges.

Journey and growth

Kevin’s journey with Lallemand began during the surreal times of the COVID-19 lockdown, where he had to introduce himself to colleagues via Teams calls. Over the past five years, he has seen positive sales growth across all product ranges. “This has been achieved by working closely with our feed mill customers and also our grassroots producers,” he shares.

Local manufacturing advantage

Having manufacturing in the UK is a significant advantage. “Security of supply and it emphasises to your customers the fact that we are doing what we can to reduce Lallemand’s carbon footprint,” Kevin highlights.

Personal and professional growth

Kevin’s role at Lallemand has expanded his knowledge. “My role covers all aspects of livestock management, from animal production, the importance of gut health, and supporting farmers with issues such as heat stress in production, to successful silage making. Lallemand’s product training and technical colleagues support my role and the wider team, helping to answer any customer queries, all of which has grown my confidence in the importance of animal nutrition,” he acknowledges.

Advice for newcomers

For those considering joining Lallemand, Kevin advises, “Be open-minded and expect more than you initially anticipated; the team of colleagues is a breath of fresh air and works collectively and not individually towards achieving an end goal.”

Dream destination

Given the chance to travel anywhere, Kevin would choose the Bay of Plenty/Taranaki and the West Coast in New Zealand. “To experience their best dairy practices,” he explains.
